We polled Auburn students with a Heisman head-to-head. Here’s what they said…

In the wake of a last-minute miracle by Alabama to clinch this year’s Iron Bowl and the shockwaves that sent through the entire world of college sports, it’s safe to say the two fan bases feel more divided right now than ever before.

We seized that opportunity by seeing how some current Auburn University students are sitting with the loss — and in particular — what they feel about the increased stock value Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe is currently riding.

Whether realistic or not, given the current race for CFB’s most prestigious honor, the Heisman, might already be narrowed, we asked students in a head-to-head hypothetical whether they’d rather see Oregon QB Bo Nix win the Heisman — or Jalen Milroe bring that hardware home to the state of Alabama.

Here’s what they said:

“Bo Nix gave me some of the most exciting games and plays that I’ve been able to witness in college so far. I still want him to succeed. Milroe, on the other hand, just topped the list as one of my least favorite players of all time.”
– Harrison Bonfim (Senior)

“So, Bo Nix, while he did transfer you have to respect what he’s done on the field. He’s played in arguably the hardest conference this season and has done incredible. Most of the time he’s not even playing in the fourth because he’s dominated the game so much. Milroe has gotten better, but he’s not a Heisman trophy winner as he simply is not the best player in college football like the Heisman is for. I think Bo Nix would be better for it because I think he deserves it more as he’s been more dominant.”
TP Hammock (Junior, writes for The Plainsman)

“If Bo Nix wins the Heisman, my life will be complete.”
–Jack Self (Senior)

“Bo Nix should win the Heisman. His talent and stats point to him being the only true front runner.”
–Kyle Moison (Junior, Auburn XC/Track member)

“Bo Nix definitely. He is an Auburn alumni who has shown his talent every week. Jalen Milroe is good, but Bo Nix is twice the man Milroe will ever be. SEC matters but I would rather an Auburn graduate succeed over Alabama any day.”
–George Chambley (Junior, Intramural ref)

“Bo has loved Auburn his entire life and I hope he succeeds. I loved watching him play as a student and want what is best for him!”
–Ellie Korotky (Senior, Miss Homecoming)

“Personally Bo. Nix beat Bama and won in Death Valley. He had his terrible moments, but we failed him, and he carried us forever. Jalen however is a Bama man through and through. To me that’s a major negative to us. Bo just did what was best for him can’t blame him at all. Unfortunately, was definitely the right call.”
–Asa Ernest (Sophomore)

“It’s true when they say that you never really leave Auburn and Auburn really never leaves you. I’m rooting for Bo Nix every day of the week and twice on Sundays. He deserves the Heisman, and it wouldn’t hurt me one bit to watch him win it. Milroe, on the other hand, would just be rubbing salt in the wound, especially after that game with the other school across the state.”
–Jack Clem (Senior)

“I would rather give the Heisman trophy to Bryan Harsin before I would ever see Alabama football succeed in any form or fashion until the sun explodes.”
–Hudson Riddle (Senior)

“Bo Nix after seeing his success at Oregon, I think it’s clear he was never the problem. I think it was coaching and talent that we lacked that made his time at Auburn bad. Milroe is overrated and not a good passer. He has improved since the Texas game but I’m never going to vote for the man responsible for the nightmare at Jordan Hare.”
–Landon Miller (Sophomore)

“I would say Jalen Milore because he does a lot of things to prolong plays making him a hard opponent to defend.”
–Maddie Marsh (Freshman)

“I really can’t choose. Obviously never cared for Milroe, but I was a Bo Nix hater when he was here. It hurts me even more that he’s in the Heisman race elsewhere. Jayden Daniels all the way.”
–Zay Youngblood (Junior)
