Alabamian and Iraq War hero Noah Galloway, who lost his left arm and leg in a roadside bomb blast, delivered an incredible performance in his Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) debut on Tuesday night, earning a lengthy standing ovation and bringing at least one of the judges to tears.

“This is the first time tonight that I’ve seen the kind of connection tonight that you need in this competition,” said judge Julianne Hough. “But I also want to say… I hope that everyone watching this realizes right now that for a man to lead, it’s usually with the left arm… The creativity with that choreography was so beautiful… Well done.”

“Noah, you’re a titan among men,” interjected judge Bruno Tonioli. “You look like a natural, like a movie star. You have a presence that is unique… You’re wonderful.”

“It was profound,” added judge Carrie Ann Inaba, fighting back tears. “That was truly inspiring.”

Monday’s DWTS was the season premier of the top-rated show and the first chance for Galloway to show his stuff. Along with the performance, the show aired a profile, briefly telling the story of how Galloway went from his traumatic, life-changing injury in Iraq, to running marathons, appearing on the cover of Men’s Health, and now ballroom dancing on national television.

“What I am lacking in limbs I will make up for in determination and hard work,” he said.
