Update: Wounded Alabama Police Officer Continues to Make Progress

According to WKRG news, the husband of Saraland police officer Jackie Tucker has come forward with updates on his wife’s progress.

Last December Officer Tucker sustained a gun shot wound to the head while responding to a domestic disturbance call. She was rushed to USA Medical Center in Mobile, Al where she spent the next several months in ICU recovering from her wounds. After reaching a stable condition and becoming well enough for the trip, she was transported to a rehab facility in Atlanta.

Continuing her journey in an Atlanta facility, her husband says “She is a fighter. She has been fighting since day one.” He also had kind words for the community that rallied behind his family during this difficult time. “From family members to the community, everyone has been supportive of us. Every day that goes by, someone says, ‘can I do something for you? Is everything okay?’ Everyone has supported us well.”

Officer Tucker is still unable to speak and is slowly relearning how to do everyday tasks. The long term goal is to increase the strength in her muscles so she can regain the ability to walk on her own.

The timeline for her recovery has yet to be determined, and she will stay in Atlanta indefinitely as she continues with her progress.

A GoFundMe account has created to assist with the costs associated in Tucker’s recover.
