If Geneva County High School students hoped to leave their mark on the Hartford Police Department during Homecoming Week, HPD has some bad news: They need to step up their game.
According to HPD, seniors “rolled” the police department overnight, leaving behind a little toilet paper — apparently not nearly enough to impress Hartford’s finest.
“Apparently the seniors ‘rolled’ the Police Department for Homecoming Week last night,” HPD posted on Facebook. “And we just have one question:
“That’s it?”
Then came the review.
“Respectfully, this might be the most mid rolling in Hartford history. The effort was giving ‘my mom said I have to be home by 9.’ Absolutely zero aura. Negative rizz. No cap, we expected better.”
Officers said they walked outside that morning prepared for “absolute chaos” and instead found approximately 14 feet of toilet paper and “what appears to be a mild inconvenience.”
“Seniors… y’all really thought you cooked,” HPD continued. “You did not cook.”
The department reported that morale remained high and estimated cleanup would take “somewhere between 45 seconds and two business minutes.”
Then came the official score.
“We’ll give it a solid 2/10. Points awarded because you did, technically, show up,” HPD wrote. “Do better, Seniors. This was not very sigma of you. Skibidi or whatever the kids say.
“Go Dawgs.”
The good-natured roasting quickly drew a crowd of its own on Facebook. One commenter thanked the department “for being a good sport,” while another had her own assessment of the students’ effort: “If ‘How much TP can I buy with $1.65’ was a picture. The seniors need to step up their game.”
Apparently, this wasn’t the first time someone in Hartford had the same idea.
One commenter recalled that “someone” rolled the police station in the square in the mid-1980s. Her uncle had pictures of the evidence, she said, but “never” found out who was responsible. She praised the students for keeping this week’s prank clean and in good fun.
But the Facebook roasting was only one glimpse of the relationship between HPD and Geneva County schools during a week built around the theme “Our Town. Our Team. Our Tradition.”
During Future Day at Geneva County Elementary School, students were encouraged to dress as what they wanted to be when they grew up. HPD officers found plenty of young Bullpups dressed for a possible future in law enforcement.
“We were excited to see so many of our young Bullpups dressed as police officers,” HPD wrote. “The Hartford Police Department is proud of all of these kids and especially proud to see so many of them interested in law enforcement.”
The department said getting to know and interact with GCES students is “one of the best parts of this job” and wondered whether officers had gotten a look at a few future members of HPD.
The community will come together again Friday for the GCHS Homecoming parade at 2 p.m. and the Bulldogs’ homecoming game that night. The homecoming ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by kickoff at 7 p.m.
Whether Geneva County students accept HPD’s challenge remains to be seen.
But for Round 1, HPD has spoken.
