The University of Alabama is set rename the playing surface at Bryant Denny-Stadium to Nick Saban Field.
While the name Bryant-Denny will remain, the Crimson Tide will now be playing their home games at Nick Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium. A September 7 ceremony will be held to officially add the designation, according to Tony Tsoukalas of Tide Illustrated.
Before the announcement is officially made, it will be presented Friday to the honorary degrees and recognition committee for the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees.
Tsoukalas reported his story after an agenda for the board’s Friday meeting was released on Thursday, which included “consideration of resolution approving a naming at Bryant-Denny Stadium at UA.”
The South Florida matchup on September 7 is expected to be officially confirmed upon that board’s approval.
Saban announced his retirement shortly after the 2023 season that saw him win his ninth SEC title as a head coach. He finished his coaching career with a 297-71-1 record that ended with seven national championships and six at Alabama.
