Two Mobile men, both University of Alabama students, are dead after an early-morning fire at a hunting camp in Conecuh County on Wednesday.

The Conecuh County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Mark “McNeil” Mostellar, 21, and James Hensley II, 19. The Crimson White, the University of Alabama’s student newspaper, reported that both were business majors and brothers in the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

Four people were inside the structure, located off State Highway 84 near Stowers Timberland Road west of Evergreen, when the fire broke out in the early morning hours. Two occupants escaped and were transported for medical treatment. Mostellar and Hensley were pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Conecuh County Coroner’s Office, the Evergreen Police Department and the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Evergreen police said no further details would be released out of consideration for the families and the integrity of the investigation. Officials said Wednesday that the families of everyone involved have been notified.

Yellowhammer News extends its condolences to the Mostellar and Hensley families, the greater Mobile and Conecuh County communities, as well as students and faculty at The University of Alabama affected by the tragic losses.
