U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) won the Republican nomination for governor in a landslide Tuesday night, capturing 85.48% of the vote in a primary that was his from the moment he entered the race.

Ken McFeeters finished second with 9.56% and “Alabama” Will Santivasci third with 4.96% out of 493,365 total votes cast.

Tuberville will face former U.S. Senator Doug Jones in the November 3 general election for governor in a state President Trump carried by 30 points in 2024.

Tuberville and Jones previously faced each other in the 2020 U.S. Senate election, with Tuberville winning 60.10% to 39.74%.

Trump threw his full weight behind Tuberville throughout the campaign, issuing his “complete and total endorsement” and delivering a final eve-of-primary push calling Coach “a true WINNER” and “a lifelong leader, both on and off the field.”

The former Auburn head football coach and SEC champion has served in the U.S. Senate since 2021, building a reputation as one of Trump’s most loyal allies in Washington. He ran on shrinking state government, cutting taxes, and positioning Alabama to capitalize on the manufacturing surge Trump’s trade policies have driven back to the United States.

Tuberville has also pledged to pursue a 7-0 Republican congressional map as governor, vowing to call another special session to eliminate the last remaining Democratic-held congressional seat once he takes office.

Alabama voters also cast ballots Tuesday in the Republican primary to fill Tuberville’s U.S. Senate seat, with U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), Attorney General Steve Marshall, and former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson leading a crowded field. That race had not been called at the time of publication.
