President Trump delivered his most forceful endorsement of U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) yet on the eve of Alabama’s Republican primary, calling him “a true WINNER” and urging voters to send Coach to the governor’s mansion.

“I was proud to endorse ‘Coach’ when he ran for the Senate in 2020, and am honored to do so again,” Trump said. “Tommy Tuberville has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Governor of the Great State of Alabama.”

The endorsement caps a political partnership that stretches back six years. Trump backed Tuberville’s first Senate run in 2020, helping him knock off incumbent Democrat Doug Jones in a landslide.

Since arriving in Washington, Tuberville has been widely regarded as Trump’s closest and most loyal ally in the Senate, standing with the president on military holds, border security, and the fights that earned him enemies on both sides of the aisle.

When Tuberville announced his governor’s bid last year, he put the relationship front and center.

Trump on Monday called Tuberville “a Highly Respected U.S. Senator” and “a Lifelong Leader, both on and off the field,” urging Alabama Republicans to close out the race the same way it started: standing with the president’s pick.

The primary election for Alabama is tomorrow, Tuesday, May 19.
