C Spire has completed the rebranding of Troy Cablevision, the telecom company announced today.
In a news release, the company said the acquisition – which was announced in 2021 – has accelerated its fiber-based expansion throughout Alabama, providing ultra-fast broadband internet access and related services.
The Troy Cable brand has become C Spire – all properties, offices, vehicles, and equipment carry C Spire branding, the release said.
“We are excited to expand the C Spire brand even further in Alabama and have made a seamless transition for Troy Cable customers,” said Hu Meena, CEO for C Spire. “Adding Troy Cable to our team has leveraged our rapid growth of our all-fiber broadband internet and allowed us to bring more products and services to our customers there.”
Mississippi-based C Spire is amid a three-year, $500 million investment in fiber infrastructure and network development in Alabama to provide ultra-fast broadband internet access for consumers and other advanced voice and data services to businesses.
C Spire said the initiative, announced in January 2021, is part of a $1 billion investment across Alabama and Mississippi – the largest capital spends in the firm’its history. C Spire is also completing a 243-mile-long haul fiber initiative from Meridian to Homewood, bringing additional fiber access to new areas in the state.
Through Troy Cable, C Spire said it has secured eight state grants and a federal grant (Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and federal Rural Digital Opportunity Fund) worth $40.7 million to deploy fiber across the state. All of the projects have been delivered on time or ahead of schedule, and greater than expectations, the company said.
“Joining the C Spire family allows us to take advantage of a greater variety of enhanced services for our customers,” said Jake Cowen, senior vice president and general manager for C Spire. “We are committed to offering the same hometown service with our same team, but with expanded technology capabilities and expanded capital investment.
“Broadband access, especially in rural areas, can be a game-changer for consumers and businesses. C Spire is committed to making broadband more accessible.”
Troy Cable, founded in 1985, provides cable TV, internet, fiber broadband, and other services in Pike, Coffee, Crenshaw, and Dale counties. The company is headquartered in Troy and has regional offices in Elba, Enterprise, Luverne, and Ozark.
The acquisition also included Union Springs Telephone Co., which retains its branding.
