‘Their childish tantrum is tone deaf’: Ainsworth roasts UA College Democrats over reaction to President Trump’s return to Alabama

President Donald Trump will return to the Yellowhammer State in a little over a week to deliver the spring commencement address at the University of Alabama.  It will be the commander-in-chief’s third time on the Tuscaloosa campus, and while many in the state appreciate the historic significance of the upcoming speech — some liberals are less than pleased.

One student group in particular, the University of Alabama College Democrats, unsurprisingly attacked the school for allowing Trump to speak at the event and threatened retribution for the perceived ‘insult.’

“UACD is shocked and disgusted to learn that our unpopular, divisive, and authoritarian president will be involved in commencement for the graduating class of 2025,” the organization said.

“This insult will not go unanswered. The last time the disgraced criminal visited campus, he was able to turn the Alabama-Georgia game, the biggest college football game on our campus in years, into a political sideshow. We cannot allow this to happen with our commencement ceremonies. For all of his meddling in UA affairs, Donald Trump lost our campus to former Vice President Kamala Harris last semester. UA is not a fascist playground.”

Alabama’s Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth responded to the statement from the student organization on X, calling it a ‘childish tantrum.’

“The University of Alabama College Democrats have taken a page from the radical playbook we see used on liberal campuses in other states,” Ainsworth said. “Having the sitting President of the United States address your class at commencement is an honor. Their childish tantrum is tone deaf.”

Trump will be the first ever current or former President to deliver a commencement address at the university in its entire 194-year history

Alabama’s spring commencement ceremonies are scheduled for May 2-4 at Coleman Coliseum, with more than 6,700 students expected to graduate.
