The Medical Association of the State of Alabama has promoted Evans Brown to Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs, tapping a Montgomery native with nearly a decade of advocacy experience to lead its legislative strategy.
With more than 7,000 members, the Medical Association is the largest organization representing physicians in Alabama, carrying significant weight in the state capitol on issues ranging from insurance regulation to patient care standards. Brown will direct all legislative activity on behalf of that physician community.
Brown previously served five years as the Association’s Manager of Government Relations before the promotion. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Alabama.
“Evans has a comprehensive understanding of the policy landscape and a strong background working with both state and local government leaders,” said Vernon Barnett, the Association’s Executive Director.
Dr. Nina Ford Johnson, a Mobile pediatrician serving as President of the Medical Association, voiced confidence in the appointment. “Physicians in Alabama are pleased that Evans is stepping into this important role aimed at protecting and advocating for the medical profession and the patients we serve,” Johnson said.
