The search for a president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama has gone South.
As in Kyle South, who was named Thursday to head the chamber. He starts the job July 1.
“The Chamber is giving me the unique opportunity that allows me to bridge my past work experiences, my love for community, and the ability to affect public policy,” he said. “My goal is to work collaboratively with all the stakeholders throughout the region to create economic opportunities, drive workforce initiatives, and spur growth to enhance the quality of life for every citizen.”
South graduated from Fayette County High School, attended Bevill State Community College, and earned a bachelor’s in commerce and business administration, with an emphasis on marketing from the University of Alabama.
He served as president and general manager of West Alabama TV Cable Co., which was founded by his grandfather. He was also president of the Alabama Cable Telecommunications Association and a member of its board of directors since 2008.
South is a member of the Alabama House of Representative since 2014, representing District 16.
