Gail Royal has spent years serving up hospitality to the Montgomery community — last week, part of that community showed up for her.

As Royal continues her dogged fight against cancer, ‘Gail’s Down the Street Café’ got a surprise visit from AL-02 frontrunner Rhett Marques, who stopped by as he continues his own fight to be Alabama’s next congressman.

Marques, a small business owner himself and a Trump-endorses candidate, made the visit just as word spread of Royal’s battle and the upcoming benefit party being held in her honor on August 14. He was joined by Alabama’s Republican nominee for Secretary of State, Caroleene Dobson.

“For decades, Gail’s Southern hospitality and great food have made this cafe a Montgomery institution, and Russell and the entire team are working hard to keep that legacy going,” Marques posted on Facebook.

“Please keep Gail in your prayers, stop by for a great lunch, and let’s all be there for Gail the way she’s always been there for the River Region.”
