Kate Danella, chief administrative officer at Birmingham-based Regions Bank, has been named one of American Banker’s 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking for the fifth consecutive year, according to Regions.
The national recognition reflects her leadership, business performance and contributions to customers and communities. American Banker’s program, now in its 24th year, recognizes senior executives whose work makes a difference for customers, employees and the communities they serve.
“Kate’s leadership continues to strengthen Regions Bank in meaningful ways for our associates, customers, communities and shareholders,” said John Turner, chairman, president and CEO of Regions Financial Corp. “Kate combines strategic vision with a deep commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience. This latest recognition reflects the continued impact she has across our company and throughout the banking industry.”
The honor comes as Danella takes on new responsibilities at Regions. She became chief administrative officer Sept. 1, succeeding Dave Keenan, who is retiring at the end of 2026.
As YHN previously reported, the leadership changes also moved John Jordan into Danella’s former role as head of Consumer Banking.
Danella had led Consumer Banking since 2022. The group is Regions’ largest line of business and includes its retail branch network, Regions Mortgage and Home Improvement Financing.
She joined Regions in 2015 as wealth strategy and effectiveness executive and later led Private Wealth Management. Her other roles included chief strategy and client experience officer and head of Strategic Planning and Consumer Bank Products and Origination Partnerships.
Before joining Regions, Danella spent 13 years in leadership roles involving sales, strategy, client services and marketing at Capital Group Companies.
According to Regions, her work has focused on improving the customer experience and helping teams make banking easier and more useful for individuals and businesses.
“As financial professionals, we have a tremendous responsibility to not only help customers reach their goals, but also to create the next generation of innovation and growth as we reach more clients,” Danella said. “In every season, we will build on our strengths, envision the future, innovate with purpose, and deliver experiences that create more long-term value for those we serve.”
