Realtors Foundation awards 14 scholarships

The Alabama Realtors Foundation, a branch of the Alabama Association of Realtors, has selected 14 students from throughout the state to receive scholarships. The awards are provided through the organization’s education scholarship fund.

The selections were based on the students’ academic records, recommendations, and essays.

To have been eligible to receive the scholarship, the applicants have to be residents of Alabama and either a child or grandchild of a licensed Realtor member in “good standing.”

“These scholarships represent AAR’s investment in the future of our state through our members and their families,” said organization President RaJane Johnson.

Scholarship winners are:

    • Drewann Buettner – Robertsdale
      Buettner plans to major in criminal justice at the University of South Alabama. Her sponsor was Paula Ann Campbell Buettner. Buettner wants to be a university professor.
    • Victoria Gibbs – Hoover
      Gibbs is considering becoming a Realtor like her mother, or a salon owner. She will attend Southern Union Community College this fall studying business.
    • Isabelle Hoffman – Tuscaloosa
      Hoffman plans to attend Auburn University and join its neuroscience program. She hopes to be a neuropsychologist someday. Her sponsor was Jennifer Hoffman.
    • Makenzie Jones – Tuscaloosa
      Jones will be attending the University of South Alabama. She selected the university because of its biomedical program and eventually wants to go to medical school and become a pediatrician. Her sponsor was Juanita Taggart Jones.
    • Loyalty Kindred – Opeleika
      Kindred will be a freshman at the University of Alabama at Birmingham this fall. She will major in computer science and design. Her dream job is to be a software engineer at Microsoft or Google. Kindred’s sponsor was William Davenport.
    • Ethan Laney – Leesburg
      Laney attends Auburn University and majors in microbiology. He wants to be a cardiothoracic surgeon and planning a campaign for either governor or or US Senate. He was sponsored by Leanne Laney.
    • Amy Moore – Montgomery
      Moore attends the University of Alabama in Birmingham and is majoring in biomedical sciences. Her long term goal is to be an accomplished physician in either dermatology or neurology. Lily Moore was her sponsor.
    • Chase Morgan – Enterprise
      Morgan will attend Troy University, where he plans to major in business administration with a concentration in risk management. He wants to own an insurance company and eventually run for the Alabama House of Representatives. Morgan was sponsored by Rebekah Morgan.
    • Juliette Sandefur – Fairhope
      Sandefur attends the University of Alabama and majors in kinesiology and minors in biology. One day she wants to be an orthopedic physician’s assistant. nursing program. She was sponsored by Stephine Sandefur.
    • Trey Schlemmer – Montgomery
      Schlemmer attends Auburn University. He is majoring in finance with a minor in real estate development. His sponsor was Norman Schlemmer.
    • Brynna Smith – Tuscaloosa
      Smith is a student at Samford University and a member of its nursing school. Smith’s dream job would be to work in Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital. She was sponsored by Chantelle Smith.
    • Jackson Taylor-Montgomery
      Taylor will be attending Auburn University and plans to pursue a degree in finance. He hopes to become a wealth manager. Taylor was sponsored by Emily Hale Taylor.
    • Vail Tew-Orange Beach
      Tew is a student at Samford University and is majoring in business entrepreneurship. Tew hopes to found her own non-profit. Tew was sponsored by Crystal Lee Tew.
    • Lily Vierkandt-Dothan
      Vierkandt will attend the University of Alabama and with a double major in marketing and real estate. Lily plans to be a Realtor. She was sponsored by Laura and Tim Vierkandt
