Openly gay GOP AL-5 hopeful Andy Blalock: GOP needs me to ‘tell Pete Buttigieg he’s irrelevant’

Andy Blalock, a Republican candidate for Alabama’s open fifth congressional district seat, has been blasting Disney ownership and Democrats for their rhetoric surrounding Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill, arguing that the left has been negatively exploiting the LGBTQ community to pass a radical agenda.

Thursday, on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program,” Blalock expressed his frustration over the Democrats’ narrative regarding the Florida education bill.

“We’ve got to continue to fight for parental rights,” he argued. “We all know, I’ve been a 15-year school teacher, that when parents are involved kids succeed, they do better, and we should be teaching math, science, English, we shouldn’t be teaching these subjects.”

The congressional candidate believes the Democrats are focusing on these social issues to distract Republicans from Biden’s failures.

“I think it’s somewhat of a distraction as well, Yaffee,” he explained, “to what else is going on in the country with the rescinding of Title 42, immigration and all of the other things, so I encourage all the listeners that you can keep your eye on this issue, but don’t let the left distract you.”

Blalock reiterated that these issues were personal to him.

“It was because I’m a school teacher,” he continued, “I love kids. I have a rodeo program at my ranch in Athens, Grassland Ranch… America has no future if we don’t raise our kids to respect the Constitution, to interpret as it’s written, not as you wish it to be.”

He also argued that Democrats didn’t have a monopoly on LGBTQ issues in America.

“The Republican party needs an Andy Blalock to tell Pete Buttigieg, you know, that he’s irrelevant,” he protested, “because the Democrats tend to throw him out there in the sun anytime they want to talk about LGBT issues.”

Blalock pointed out that his platform was not just based on his identity but based on his principled conservative beliefs.

“This is not my platform, the gay conservative,” he explained. “My platform is I’m the constitutional candidate who wants to respect and protect that.”
