HUNTSVILLE — The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) announced its endorsement of GOP Fifth Congressional District nominee Dale Strong on Tuesday.
The NFIB, the nation’s largest small business advocacy organization, supports candidates for public office who promote issues of importance to the business community.
The announcement was made at Rousseau’s Awards, a Madison County small business that offers engraving and design services for awards, trophies and plaques, among other items.
In announcing its endorsement of Strong, NFIB Alabama State Director Rosemary Elebash asserted that the congressional candidate would be a “strong voice” for Tennessee Valley small businesses on Capitol Hill.
“NFIB members are pleased to endorse Dale Strong for Congress to represent Alabama’s 5th Congressional District,” said Elebash. “North Alabama’s small business owners need a strong voice in Washington, D.C. We are confident that Dale Strong will make for a great addition to the 118th Congress.”

Throughout his tenure as chairman of the Madison County Commission, Strong has earned a reputation as being a conservative reformer of local government.
Actively working to reduce regulation and forgoing tax increases, nearly 26,000 jobs have been recruited to North Alabama since Strong became the commission’s first elected Republican chairman.
In a statement accepting the NFIB’s endorsement of his candidacy, Strong pledged to be an advocate for the area’s small business community by bringing a fiscally conservative approach to legislating.
“When I was growing up, I worked in my parent’s rural country store serving local farmers and others in our community. I learned at an early age the value of hard work and what it takes to run a small business,” said Strong. “Raising taxes is not an option. Americans are taxed enough and deserve leaders who will be good stewards of their money. Cutting wasteful spending, downsizing government, reducing, and eliminating rules and regulations for businesses will be my top priority.”
Echoing Elebash’s praise of Strong, NFIB Senior National Political Director Sharon Sussin advised that the candidate understood the issues facing North Alabama small businesses.
“Dale Strong will be a strong advocate for small businesses in Washington,” said Sussin. “He knows the challenges that come with operating a small business and has pledged to support pro-small business policies that will generate job growth. We look forward to working with him.”
Strong will appear on the ballot in the Nov. 8 general election.
