A beloved Alabama radio personality has died.
The airwaves in northeast Alabama feel a little quieter today. Longtime Anniston radio personality Suzanne Moore Snider passed away Friday, July 31, 2026, at Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga. She was 64.
For more than 30 years, her voice was part of the soundtrack of life in Alabama. Snider became a staple on the old 100,000-watt FM blowtorch, WHMA-FM, “Alabama 100,” in the 1990s. After stepping away from radio for a time, she returned to the microphone as the midday host on The Big 95 WHMA, a Yellowhammer News Radio Network affiliate.
To her listeners, she was the friend riding along on the lunch break and the smile you could hear through the speaker.
Colleagues at WHMA remember Snider as more than a broadcaster, describing her as an incredible human being who brought joy to everyone she met, warmth to every microphone she sat behind, and kindness to every listener who ever called in. Station owner Walt Williams said, “She was a consummate professional and a great friend. She will be missed by everyone at the station and by all who knew her.”
