Kiffin on how LSU fans should prep for day game: ‘Start drinking earlier’

The LSU Tigers will host the Alabama Crimson Tide this weekend, and for just the third time this century in Baton Rouge, the game between the two rivals will be played during the day in Tiger Stadium.

Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin did not hide his disdain for the game time decision, but it sounds like he is doing whatever it takes to adapt and overcome, and he is encouraging the Bayou faithful to do the same.

In his press conference this week, he issued a plea to the fans to make adjustments to the daytime kick, including moving up their alcohol consumption.

“Tennessee supposedly set the noise record against Alabama, which you could see in that game and affecting Alabama’s offense,” Kiffin began. “And that was a 2:30 Central kick. So let’s break the record….So if you’re used to 6:30, four hours earlier, start your day earlier, have breakfast earlier, start drinking earlier, whatever it is, your routine, just move it up.”

Kiffin even suggested that the city of Baton Rouge take steps to ensure LSU fans get their rest in to be ready to scream their heads off four hours earlier than usual.

“Go to bed earlier Friday night. We should have a city shutdown at like 10 p.m. Friday. And everybody goes to sleep,” he joked.

Regardless of what time the game is played, Tigers fans are going to be making noise and creating a hostile environment for Alabama to play in. Time will tell how they end up handling it, but it’s safe to say the kick time is not going to have much impact on the level of noise.
