U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) is again sounding the alarm about the rise of the far left in the Democratic Party.
The senator went on Fox News’ “Hannity” and reacted to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidate Angie Nixon coming out on top in the Florida Democratic Primary for the U.S. Senate.
“The Democratic Socialists of America are not the fringe anymore, Sean, of the Democratic Party. They have taken over the Democratic Party, and these policies that you just laid out succinctly are the very policies they are looking to enact when they hope to get to power,” Britt said. “Look, America has to wake up.”
Socialists have taken over the Democratic Party.
They want to defund law enforcement, abolish our borders, and have government-funded gender mutilation surgeries for children, just to name a few of their priorities.

Nixon is one of several DSA members that have been able to gain a foothold within the Democratic Party.
“You just talked about some of these Democrats that have stood up in Michigan and said, ‘Hey, [Abdul] El-Sayed is not for us. We do not believe in abolishing prisons and jails and police and ICE and borders and so on and so on.’ I believe that is just the beginning. I think more and more Democrats are going to stand up and say that is not for us,” Britt continued.
“And the thing is, they have taken over. You saw that not only in Michigan, you saw it in Florida. You look at now the Democratic candidate for Senate in Florida; there could not be a starker contrast between her and the … strength of Senator [Ashley] Moody.”
Britt gave a couple of examples of the extreme beliefs of Nixon and the other socialists.
“She has said in the Senate, the Democrat there in Florida, that she believes there is no sexualization when it comes to drag shows. She has said that she took her children,” she said. “Sean, these people are out of touch with reality. They are wrong on the policies, and they’re wrong on their priorities.”
“This is not only bad for the Democratic Party, it is bad for America,” she added.
