The Alabama Golf Foundation has named a new executive director effective November 2.

Jackson Seawell, a longtime resident of the Birmingham area, has been tapped to lead the foundation as it moves from its founding into the construction of Golf House Alabama.

“My career has been about creating memorable experiences for people, and that’s the mindset I’ll bring here,” Seawell said. “I’m grateful to the board for this opportunity to help build something so special for the game in Alabama.”

Seawell has served most recently as the  assistant director of stadium events during a near half decade stint with the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex. Overseeing more than 40 large-scale events a year, including University of Alabama at Birmingham football, the Birmingham Bowl and the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League, Seawell’s operations background is second to none.

A former Samford University golfer, Seawell began his career in the university’s athletics department. He holds a bachelor’s degree in sports administration and a master’s degree in business administration.

“Our goal is to strengthen golf for everyone in Alabama, from juniors picking up a club for the first time to lifelong competitors,” said Alabama Golf Foundation President Grantland Rice III. “Jackson brings operational experience and a passion for the game that’s hard to match. We’re looking forward to seeing him lead.”

The foundation, established in April 2026, grew from a partnership between the Alabama Golf Association and the PGA of America’s Alabama-Northwest Florida Section. AGF purchased the Irondale acreage from the city and is currently in a capital campaign to fund the first phase of construction for Golf House Alabama. The public facility in Irondale will serve as a permanent home for golf in the state.
