The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce announced that Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) continues to invest in its workforce with major initiatives aimed at enhancing team members’ well-being. The company recently celebrated the grand opening of its $14 million Care Center, reinforcing its dedication to employee health and workplace support. This milestone follows the March 2024 launch of TOOTRiS, an employer-sponsored childcare benefit, further demonstrating HMMA’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its team members.
Located on the HMMA campus, the Care Center provides team members with on-site medical services, physical therapy, emergency response, fitness resources, and a team wear store—all designed to support their overall health and wellness. By offering convenient access to essential care, HMMA continues to create a positive and supportive work environment for its 4,000 employees.
Understanding the challenges faced by working parents, HMMA introduced TOOTRiS in March 2024. This initiative provides employees with children under 13 with a monthly stipend covering 25% of childcare costs, up to $150. It also connects Hyundai team members with a network of accredited childcare providers, helping them balance career and family responsibilities.
“These investments show HMMA’s deep commitment to its workforce,” said Anna Buckalew, President and CEO of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. “Providing access to high-quality healthcare and childcare solutions not only enhances employee well-being but also strengthens retention and recruitment. Hyundai understands what today’s workforce needs and is taking meaningful steps to support them.”
Since establishing operations in Montgomery in 2002, HMMA has played a transformational role in the region’s economic growth. In May of this year, HMMA will celebrate 20 years of manufacturing excellence in Alabama. Its ongoing investment in employee care reflects a long-term vision of creating a workplace where team members can thrive—both personally and professionally. By prioritizing workforce well-being and support, HMMA reinforces its reputation as a team-focused employer and a leader in building an innovative and supportive work environment.
HMMA was recruited to Montgomery through a coordinated effort led by the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with state and local leaders, securing one of the most significant economic development projects in Alabama’s history.
