Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) and its team members have donated more than $8,000 worth of school supplies and uniforms to students in the Selma City School System. The uniforms and supplies will help students be dressed for success and ready to learn throughout the upcoming school year.
During July and August, HMMA team members purchased over $700 worth of school supplies and $2,500 worth of uniform items from local retail stores. The contributions, which cover students from elementary through high school, were guided by specific lists of needed supplies and uniform guidelines provided by Selma City Schools. Additionally, HMMA made a corporate donation of $5,000 in uniforms, bringing the total uniform donation to $7,500.
The donated items were presented to Selma City Schools representatives for distribution to students across the district.
This marks HMMA’s 19th back-to-school drive and the second time it has specifically benefitted Selma City Schools. Scott Posey, HMMA’s public relations manager, emphasized the importance of the company’s community partnerships, particularly with local public schools.
“HMMA believes in partnerships that increase the quality of life in the River Region. This is especially true of our partnerships with the region’s many public schools like those in Selma,” Posey said. “Whether through school supply donations or through STEM and robotics programs, these partnerships aren’t only vital to the success of our young people, but also to HMMA’s long-term success as these partnerships help shape and prepare our young people to one day take advantage of the great careers we have to offer.”
