How many Alabama players could be selected in first round of NFL Draft tonight?

It’s one of the best days of the year for football fans with the NFL Draft finally upon us and getting started with the first round on Thursday night from Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The SEC always makes it a habit of having tons of players selected on the Thursday with 11 of them last year and a record of 15 in 2020, but over the years very few programs have even come close to rivaling the Alabama Crimson Tide in first round picks.

This is not going to be a year where the Tide comes close to touching the record-breaking six first round selections they had in 2021, but there are at least three players who might have a good chance to hear their names called early.

Here they are ranked by likelihood:

Jihaad Campbell, Linebacker: 80% chance

Campbell was absolutely ferocious this season and coming out of Alabama as a game-changing linebacker recruited by Nick Saban certainly gives any prospect a boost. The league has gotten away from valuing off ball linebackers like Campbell as highly as someone who plays off the edge, which is why Campbell could see a little bit of a slide. However, it would be a fairly significant shock to see him not end up in the first round.

He could be selected as early as the teens.

Tyler Booker, Guard: 70% chance

Booker was arguably the best guard in college football last season and figures to be drafted sometime in the 20s. For as talented as he is however, similar to Campbell he gets knocked a bit for positional value. Guard is not considered anywhere near as valuable as tackle, and though Booker figures to be a potential All-Pro, guards are not traditionally taken extremely high.

However, it’s more likely than not that a playoff team drafting in the 20s needs someone like Booker to complete their offensive line and the All-American goes at that point.

Jalen Milroe, Quarterback: 40% chance

No matter how you feel about Milroe as a quarterback after he struggled as a consistent passer for two seasons, NFL teams fall in love with traits. And there is perhaps no trait more impressive in this class than Milroe’s ability with his legs.

Whether true or not with Milroe, many teams seem to see him as a guy with a high ceiling if he can develop as a passer, and high ceilings tend to be drafted early. More likely than not he ends up going in the second or third round due to his limitations, but it would not be a massive shock to see him come off the board if a team trades back up into the first round.
