Homewood’s financial records being examined by the state

According to Birmingham’s ABC 33/40, the City of Homewood’s finance director has said state auditors are reviewing the Birmingham suburb’s financial records. The state is reportedly looking into expenditures, contracts, city policies and if the city is complying with its own policies.

Robert Burgett, the city finance director, told ABC 33/40 News that it is “not a full audit.”

The Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts is conducting the review.

Last October, it was reported that the City of Homewood had issues with the large amount of credit cards that were dispensed to individuals associated with the city.

As of now, few details have been released about the financial review.
