Governor Kay Ivey on Thursday announced more than $7.6 million in state funding for 26 road projects across Alabama through the state’s Rebuild Alabama Annual Grant Program.
According to the Governor’s Office, the grants represent the first round of funding distributed this year under the Alabama Department of Transportation’s Annual Grant Program, which was established through the Rebuild Alabama Act signed into law in 2019.
“If you are driving from one place to the next in our state, it is hard not to spot a blue Rebuild Alabama sign along the way. That is because we have road and bridge projects happening in all 67 counties,” said Governor Ivey.
“These grants are giving our local communities the support they need to take on critical projects. We are going to keep delivering results you can see mile after mile across our state.”
State officials said the 2026 Annual Grant Program will distribute a total of $15 million in funding this year, exceeding the minimum amount required under the Rebuild Alabama Act by $5 million. Additional grants are expected to be awarded later this year.
Local governments receiving grants also contributed more than $1.9 million in matching funds toward the projects. Under the program guidelines, all awarded projects must move forward within one year.
Since the Rebuild Alabama Act was enacted, the program has awarded more than $78 million in transportation funding for local infrastructure projects statewide, according to the Governor’s Office.
A full list of awarded projects was released alongside Thursday’s announcement.
