After a press conference about Alabama’s new Security Operations Center and cybersecurity website, Gov. Kay Ivey spoke with reporters about the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
Ivey was asked whether or not she supported Kavanaugh’s confirmation and if she supported the FBI investigation into Kavanaugh following his hearing last week.
“The president has appointed Mr. Kavanaugh and it’s the Senate’s job to consider and confirm. And my view is the Senators need to evaluate all the information they’ve been given and the members need to use their good judgment and make a decision.”
Ivey was then asked to elaborate on her answer and she confirmed her support for Judge Kavanaugh, but insisted that Senators must make the right decision for the country.
“I think he should be confirmed,” Ivey said. “But see, I’m not there to see it eyeball-to-eyeball. So that’s not a fair question. It’s the role of the senators in the Senate to evaluate the information they have and to exercise their good judgment.”
