GOP chair: Alabama Democrats ‘ashamed’ of their party

The chairman of the GOP in the Yellowhammer State is telling voters that the Democratic party candidates are afraid to strongly align themselves with their own side of the isle.

Thursday on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program,” Party Chair John Wahl talked about his optimism ahead of next week’s elections.

“When you see inflation at the rates they are,” Wahl said, “when you see the woke politics, when you see the indoctrination of our children, we should be afraid and we should show that fear at the ballot box…I think it’s going to be a very good night for Republicans both in Alabama and across the country.”

The Republican leader said Alabama Democrats are being very shy about their party’s national platform.

“We see Democrats that are not using the nation’s Democrats,” he said. “They’re not putting the donkey on their signs. It’s almost like they’re ashamed of the Democrat Party, and they don’t want to tie themselves to these policies, these woke policies, coming out of the national Democrat Party, and I think that’s telling.”

Wahl believes the voters in Alabama are too smart to fall for the perception those Democratic candidates are trying to portray.

“Don’t believe the narrative that the candidate wants to put you in the box of,” he said. “Go and do the research. Look at their background, why did they choose to run on the Democrat Party. And look at that Democrat Party platform and what they stand for and if they chose that over the Republican Party platform. If you’re choosing to run in the Democrat party, you’re endorsing the Democrat Party platform, and it’s atrocious, it’s terrible, and it is all the things that are leading to the destruction of our country.”

Wahl is not just concerned about the Democratic Party, but warned about another group trying to gain a foothold in the state.

“One of the areas I’m concerned about is candidates running in the Libertarian Party,” he said. “I think of lot of those are in a design to actually help Democrats, and I think that’s incredibly important for our base to realize, see what’s happening, and confront it.”

Wahl said there is a lot of stake in this election, not just for Alabama, but for the future of the country as a whole.

“I would say the number one issue right now,” he said, “is just the understanding of what America was founded on and the idea that we want Americans to be free and not head toward a socialist agenda, and I think that’s the number one issue I’m hearing out on the trail. And of course underneath that comes all of those issues, inflation, a responsible spending program for the federal government, energy independence, bringing gas prices down, lower taxes that will help the middle class. These are all issues that affect the average Alabama family.

“Government was created to serve the people, not regulate the people, and the Democrats seem more concerned about forcing mandates on the American people than they do about the situations our citizens and family are in and what’s happening around the kitchen table.”
