The Red Mountain Cut foundation is hosting a “Friends of the Cut” litter clean-up event in conjunction with ALPALS (Alabama People Against a Littered State) and ALDOT’s (Alabama Department of Transportation) Adopt-A-Mile program this Saturday, December 9th from 8:30am-11:00am.
Together, the organizations have adopted miles 272-274 on Highway 280, running from the interchange of 280 & 31 near Homewood to St. Vincent’s Hospital. The initial meet-up at 8:30 a.m. will take place at Little Hardware English Village, located at 2101 Cahaba Road in Mountain Brook.
Safety gear will be handed out and groups will be split into five teams of 2-6 people per team to cover five separate zones along the highway.
The Red Mountain Cut is a foundation which is “dedicated to improving the beauty and access to the Cut in Red Mountain and adjacent neighborhoods”

This will be the first of what is going to be a quarterly event and is a great community service opportunity to help keep the Birmingham community clean.
