As reported by ABC 33/40 News, former Alabama standout, Trent Richardson, is attempting to salvage his football career by joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League.
In his time at Alabama, Richardson helped lead the Tide to two National Championships. And many viewed him as a hard-nosed player who could separate from the defense once he turned upfield.
He was the third pick in the 2012 NFL draft, signing with the Cleveland Browns. The college standout had two decent seasons with the Browns before he was traded to the Colts in 2014. During his two seasons in Indianapolis, his production dropped substantially, ultimately leading to him being cut by the Colts.
Out of a job for over two years, he tried making it back into the NFL but failed to make the regular season roster for both the Oakland Raiders and Baltimore Ravens.
Now he is back on the gridiron, after fighting for a spot on the Saskatchewan roster. Whether or not he plays another snap in the NFL will require some serious improvement from the once productive running back.
He joins a roster that features fellow NFL veteran OL Bruce Campbell.
