Forestry Association endorses Cox in District 16 special runoff

The Alabama Forestry Association has endorsed Brad Cox for Alabama House District 16 in the Oct. 24 special runoff election.

Cox was an award-winning agriculture teacher and FFA advisor for Fayette County High School.

“Brad will be a hard worker representing House District 16,” said Chris Isaacson, president and CEO of AFA. “He has well-rounded experience from working as a county commissioner, teaching agriculture and handling business development. These experiences will serve him well as he represents the people of District 16 in Montgomery.”

Cox, the Fayette County District One Commissioner, is a business development officer for Alabama One Credit Union. He is a graduate of Auburn University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural education. Cox is married, has one son, and also serves as the pastor at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Fayette.

“I am extremely humbled to receive the endorsement of the Alabama Forestry Association,” said Cox.

“The forestry industry is vital to the economy in House District 16 and I look forward to working side by side with them to make sure their industry is well-represented in Montgomery.”

Cox is facing Brian Brinyark, a Tuscaloosa attorney and first-time candidate, in the special runoff.

The winner will face Democrat John Underwood in a special general election, with the district’s partisan composition strongly indicating the Republican nominee will take office.
