Five Alabama state representatives thank congressional delegation members challenging Electoral College results

Five Alabama state representatives have written a letter thanking members of the state’s congressional delegation who have announced they will vote to reject electors from certain states when Congress meets on Wednesday to review and certify Electoral College results from the 2020 presidential election.

The letter was authored by State Reps. Chip Brown (R-Mobile), Shane Stringer (R-Citronelle), Jeff Sorrells (R-Geneva), Rhett Marques (R-Enterprise) and Wes Allen (R-Troy).

It is addressed to U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and Congressmen Jerry Carl (AL-01), Barry Moore (AL-02) and Mo Brooks (AL-05), who have publicly pledged to support objections to the electors from a group of swing states that are all currently set to award their Electoral College votes to Democrat Joe Biden, which would make him president on January 20.

Brooks is leading this national effort, and on Monday he confirmed the contested states are Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Congressmen Mike Rogers (AL-03) and Robert Aderholt (AL-04) in the last two days have committed to supporting the objections; their respective announcements came after the state representatives’ letter was drafted but before it was sent on Monday.

“As residents of Alabama we want to thank you for taking a stand for the integrity and security of our electoral process,” the GOP state representatives wrote. “By standing with President Trump you are showing you care about the very foundations of our Republic and the principles upon which it was founded.”

“We encourage the other members of the Alabama Congressional Delegation to join with you and seek the truth and not accept the electoral college results without debating which slate of electors from the seven states with dual slates of electors should be seated,” they continued. “There appears to be growing evidence of election fraud across several states and the American people deserve to have faith in the election process. Free and fair elections are an essential part of our Republic and without them we cannot and will never have faith in not only the process but in the men and women that are elected. Fraudulent elections are the bedrock from which every tyrant and dictator gains power and is the first step in which every free society ceases to be free.”

The letter concluded, “Thank you for your courage in taking a stand during this trying time in American history. We stand with you and appreciate your leadership.”

State Rep. Andrew Sorrell (R-Muscle Shoals), joined by State Rep. Tommy Hanes (R-Bryant), had previously circulated a letter in support of Brooks’ efforts.
