“Woodlawn”, an upcoming movie set and filmed in Birmingham featuring Oscar winner Jon Voight as legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant and Caleb Castille, son of Alabama and NFL star player Jeremiah Castille, as Woodlawn High School star and Alabama standout Tony Nathan has released another teaser.
Bama fans, get ready for chill bumps.
The feature, also starring Sean Astin as the Woodlawn team chaplain and C. Thomas Howell as the well-known Banks High School coach George “Shorty” White was filmed in the Magic City by Birmingham natives Andrew and Jon Erwin and produced by Pure Flix and Provident Films.
“Woodlawn” follows Nathan’s high school career and recruitment by Coach Bryant in the 1970s while the state was still embroiled in racial tension.

The film will depict the 1974 Banks vs. Woodlawn football game at Birmingham’s Legion Field that holds the record for most attendees of a high school football game in the state to this day.
Woodlawn will hit theaters October 16th, right in the middle of football season.
