Donald Trump Jr. in Alabama: ‘We’ve got to make sure that the Republican Party is energized without just Trump at the top of the ticket’

Donald Trump Jr. used his keynote address at the Alabama Republican Party Trump Victory Dinner in Birmingham as a call to action for Republicans, arguing the fight against the left isn’t over.

Don Jr.’s visit to Alabama comes after his sister-in-law, Lara Trump, spoke at the party’s 2024 summer event, while his father, President Trump, delivered the keynote address at their blockbuster 2023 event.

“You know, this is not the time that most people are politically active. But the fact that people are in these seats right now, still in the game, a long ways off from midterms, tells me everything that we need to know,” Trump Jr. said. “We have that problem. We get complacent. We get lazy. We see the wins on TV, and we sit back.”

Don Jr. pointed to the recent victory of a liberal judge in Wisconsin as a reason for Republicans to stay engaged in the process.

“The same people they showed up for Trump, if they showed up this time around, you hold the Supreme Court,” he argued.

“You don’t have an activist judge pushing all the insanity, rapists, murderers. They want to make sure they keep them, you know, they’re on their planet… We gotta’ make sure that the Republican Party is energized without just Trump at the top of the ticket. We have to get involved and stay in that game, everybody.”

He also defended his father’s new tariff policy, admitting that it may cause some short-term pain, but said it will make the country more prosperous in the long run.

“He’s in the second term. He doesn’t care,” he said. “He can do the things that are actually right for the American people, for the American worker, for the American manufacturing — and guess what? It may take more than a couple days, but you see that with everything, right? Stock market goes down, and, you know, three days later, it’s back to normal, and they make the big deal of it.”

“So what you have right now is you have the perfect guy to actually do these things, and then the people who are smart get it and get to the table and do what’s right, both for their country and ours,” he added. “I think they’ll be the winners. The people who wait and try to play those games are probably going to ultimately lose, but I think that’s going to be great for the American worker. So I’m just excited to finally see the common sense become common again.”

Trump Jr. emphasized why Republicans won in 2024, and called on the party to keep fighting.

“And so we found that we’re actually now the party of free thinkers,” he said, “the party of free speech, the party of freedom… People finally get it, so it was a rough, four years. I’m sorry for so many of us that had to go through it, but perhaps, that’s exactly what we needed to have that success.”
