DeBoer pitches Alabama to make playoff: ‘We’re a team that could win it all’

The Alabama Crimson Tide are awaiting their playoff fate after losing three games in the regular season and not qualifying for this week’s SEC Championship.

While the Tide is not in control of its own destiny and things are going to be left up to the committee, it seems the way things have shaken out they are actually going to have a fairly decent shot as the field is decided. During a radio appearance with Peter Burnes and Chris Doering on Tuesday, DeBoer made his pitch for Alabama to get into the field and referenced, schedule, quality of wins, the rigor of the SEC, and potential to win a title:

“I’ve been a part of championship teams, and I know what that looks like,” DeBoer said. “The physicality that we have, the explosiveness that we have, we have a defense that creates a ton of turnovers, one of the best in the country…we’re a very balanced football team but we have some very pronounced strengths…I also know what it feels like from a resiliency standpoint…I feel like we have the make up of not just a top-12 team but a team that can win it all.”

DeBoer will have to root for the SMU Mustangs to defeat the Clemson Tigers in the ACC title game on Saturday night in order to have a real shot at making the field.
