DCH Health System has announced the appointment of former Alabama Secretary of Labor Fitzgerald Washington to its Board of Directors.
Washington, known for his extensive leadership experience in both corporate and public sectors, is expected to play a key role in advancing DCH’s mission.
Currently, Washington holds the position of Corporate Director of External Affairs & Community Engagement at Buffalo Rock Company, where he focuses on building community partnerships and enhancing corporate responsibility efforts. Prior to this role, he served as Alabama’s Secretary of Labor for a decade, from 2014 to his retirement in October 2024. Washington’s tenure marked significant achievements, including reaching Alabama’s lowest-ever unemployment rate and highest workforce participation levels.

Board leadership praised Washington.

The DCH Health System Board of Directors consists of nine members who each serve six-year terms. Board members are appointed through a combination of selections made by the Tuscaloosa City Council, Tuscaloosa County Commission, Northport City Council, the medical staffs of DCH Regional Medical Center and Northport Medical Center, and the board itself.
DCH Health System, a public, not-for-profit health system based in West Alabama, has been providing healthcare to the region for over a century. It includes DCH Regional Medical Center, Northport Medical Center, and Fayette Medical Center.
