The Business Council of Alabama is launching a major, new statewide pro-Tuberville campaign built around his business and tax record as Alabama’s race for governor moves into the general election.
ProgressPAC, the Business Council of Alabama’s political action committee, announced Monday the launch of “Coach Means Business,” an effort supporting Republican nominee U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) that will include billboards across the state and a direct-to-voter grassroots campaign through November.
“Coach Tuberville has shown that he understands what businesses need to grow, invest and create jobs,” BCA President and CEO Helena Duncan said.
“From cutting taxes to fighting burdensome regulations and government mandates, Coach has consistently stood with businesses, workers and the people creating jobs across Alabama.”
ProgressPAC had already endorsed Tuberville during the 2026 election cycle, along with a slate of statewide and legislative candidates the organization identifies as supportive of a pro-business agenda. BCA describes ProgressPAC’s mission as electing candidates who support economic growth, investment and job creation.
The campaign also reflects the stakes BCA sees beyond Election Day. Alabama’s next governor will influence the state’s approach to taxes, regulation, workforce development and the economic incentives used to recruit and retain employers.
BCA pointed to Tuberville’s tax and regulatory record in the U.S. Senate.
Tuberville introduced legislation in 2025 to create a federal income-tax deduction for overtime wages, later touting the overtime provisions included in the broader federal tax package enacted that year. He has also introduced legislation seeking to eliminate federal taxation of Social Security benefits and has repeatedly backed efforts to permanently repeal the federal estate tax.
“Alabama’s next governor will have a major role in determining whether our state remains one of the best places in the country to start, grow and operate a business,” ProgressPAC Chairman Kevin Savoy said.
“Coach understands what is at stake, and his record shows that he is willing to stand up for Alabama employers and workers.”
ProgressPAC said “Coach Means Business” will serve as the centerpiece of its gubernatorial campaign, while the broader “Means Business” branding will also appear in selected Alabama legislative races involving candidates endorsed by the organization.
Tuberville faces Democratic nominee and former U.S. Senator Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook) in November.
