CK Cattle named Alabama’s 2026 Farm of Distinction

The Alabama Farmers Federation announced that a Lowndes County cattle operation has been recognized for its impact on agriculture and community engagement statewide.

CK Cattle in Hope Hull was named Alabama’s 2026 Farm of Distinction during the Alabama Farm-City Awards Luncheon held in Auburn on April 9.

The three-generation operation is managed by Chuck and Katie Madaris alongside their family. The farm produces Angus, Chiangus and SimAngus seedstock cattle, as well as commercial cattle.

According to the federation, the award recognizes CK Cattle’s commitment to stewardship, support of young farmers and overall community impact.

As this year’s Farm of Distinction, the Madaris family will receive several prizes, including an engraved farm sign from Alfa Insurance and the Alabama Farmers Federation, a zero-turn mower from Alfa Farmers Member Perks, and a John Deere Gator provided by John Deere, SunSouth and TriGreen.

Additional awards include $1,000 from First South Farm Credit and a $1,000 gift card from Alabama Farmers Cooperative.

Chuck Madaris will also represent Alabama in the Sunbelt Ag Expo Southeastern Farmer of the Year contest later this fall.
