Church Deacon facing charges, accused of sexually abusing two girls

A church deacon in a suburb near Birmingham is facing charges, accused of sexually abusing two girls.

Al.com reports Irondale police announced Thursday that 69-year-old Collin Galletly Jr. has been charged with first-degree sexual abuse and sexual abuse of a child younger than 12.
Det. Sgt. Michael Mangina says the investigation began last November when the guardian of two girls, 9 and 12, filed a report against the deacon, who served at McElwain Baptist Church. Mangina declined to elaborate on the accusations, saying only that they were “weird” and “creepy.”

The church’s senior pastor, The Rev. Jon Glass, says Galletly is barred from church services pending the outcome of the case.
The report says Galletly is not in custody.

The newspaper report doesn’t say if Galletly has a lawyer.
