Sheriff’s office: Illegal alien arrested in Alabama on two ‘graphic’ child sex abuse charges

The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) on Tuesday announced that an illegal alien is in custody after being charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.

Deputy Brad Williams, director of communications for the sheriff’s office, wrote in a release that CCSO investigators over the weekend arrested Jesus Cortes Sandoval, a 63-year-old current resident of Good Hope and a “Mexican National.”

This came after investigators “conducted a short investigation, with the assistance of Cullman County Department of Human Resources (DHR), Cullman Advocacy Center (CAC), and the Cullman County District Attorney’s Office.”

Williams stated that “after victims came forward CCSO investigators determined the suspect had committed sexual acts to a minor child under twelve years old.”

Other charges could still be introduced as the investigation continues; charges should be viewed as allegations, and Sandoval is considered innocent until proven guilty in court.

“Due to the graphic nature of the crime and the crime involving a child, there is limited information that the CCSO can release,” Williams added.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Sandoval is currently being held without bond in the Cullman County Detention Center with an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer.
