When a new candidate is running against an incumbent for the Alabama legislature, the mayors of the large cities in the district rarely go openly with the challenger.
That isn’t the case in House District 95. The newcomer is business owner Joe Freeman of Gulf Shores. He is challenging State Rep. Francis Holk-Jones (R-Foley).
Freeman has gained the endorsement of Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon, who posted this endorsement on Facebook:
Freeman also picked up another major endorsement, the Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA).
“Joe Freeman is a conservative businessman who understands the importance of agriculture and business in Baldwin County,” said Hope Cassebaum, president of the Baldwin County Farmers Federation. “Joe will take the needs of farmers, business owners, and all the people in House District 95 to Montgomery.”
Freeman, who attended the University of South Alabama and Faulkner University, is a financial professional who has spent 10 years as a Registered Investment Advisor. This career followed a successful career in law enforcement.
“Having the endorsement of some of the hardest working people in this district – our farmers – is a great honor to me,” said Freeman. “We share the same work ethic and common-sense conservative values, and it will be an honor to ensure their voices are heard in Montgomery.”
Freeman and his wife, Mignon, have six children. They reside in Gulf Shores and attend The Island Church in Orange Beach.
The Alabama Farmers Federation is the state’s largest farm organization with more than 360,000 member families. It uses a grassroots approach to select candidates, relying on Alabama FarmPAC endorsements from county Farmers Federation boards of directors for local elections.
The Republican primary is on May 19, 2026. The Republican nominee could face a Democrat in the November general election in this heavily Republican district.
