The Business Council of Alabama’s political arm endorsed challenger Scott Ortis over incumbent Sen. Dan Roberts (R-Mountain Brook) in the Republican primary for Alabama Senate District 15, the organization announced Monday.
ProgressPAC, BCA’s political action committee, cited Ortis’ background in education, healthcare, and business ownership in announcing the endorsement ahead of the May 19 primary.
“Scott Ortis has spent his career serving others, first in the classroom, then in healthcare and as a successful business owner,” ProgressPAC Chairman Kevin Savoy said. “He knows how decisions made in Montgomery impact real people and real businesses, and we’re proud to support his campaign as someone who will bring that practical, results-driven approach to the legislature.”
Ortis began his career as a public school teacher before earning an accelerated pharmacy degree, an MBA, and a Master of Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He founded Solutions Infusion Therapy in 2003 and grew the company over two decades into one of Alabama’s leading home infusion and enteral care providers.
His campaign platform includes cutting taxes, reducing regulations, expanding workforce training, passing term limits, and ensuring every student graduates college or career ready.
Roberts has held the District 15 seat since 2018 and is seeking a third term. The district covers Mountain Brook, Vestavia, and portions of Jefferson and Shelby counties.
