Alabamians planning to vote in the Nov. 3 general election have until Monday, Oct. 19, to register, Secretary of State Wes Allen reminded voters.
“I encourage all eligible Alabamians to register to vote or verify their voter registration status ahead of the General Election in November. Take the time now to make sure you are registered, informed, and ready to vote on November 3,” Allen said.
Eligible residents can register online through the Secretary of State’s website. Paper registration forms may be delivered in person or mailed to the local county Board of Registrars.
Voters can also check their registration status before Election Day.
To be eligible to vote in Alabama, a person must be a U.S. citizen, reside in Alabama and be at least 18 years old on or before Election Day. A person must not be barred from voting because of a disqualifying felony conviction or have been judged “mentally incompetent” by a court of law.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 3. Voters are required to present a valid form of photo identification when voting at their polling place or by absentee ballot.
Cumulative unofficial election results will be posted at AlabamaVotes.gov.
Anyone with questions about voter registration can call the Secretary of State’s Elections Division at 334-242-7210 or contact their local county Board of Registrars.
Allen is Alabama’s 54th secretary of state and serves as the state’s chief elections official. Alabama law assigns the office more than 1,000 duties. More information about those responsibilities is available on the Secretary of State’s website.
