Former Senate Majority Whip Rusty Glover has picked up a key endorsement from the Alabama Farmers Federation in his bid to return to the state legislature after an almost eight-year hiatus. The Mobile native is running for the Senate District 34 seat, the same office he held prior to stepping away in 2018.

Glover previously represented Mobile in both the House of Representatives and the State Senate for a combined 16 years. According to his campaign, Glover boasted a 100% pro-life and pro-second amendment voting record. His reputation for supporting small businesses and standing against raising taxes is also being promoted.

The Mobile County chapter of ALFA praised Glover’s established trust with the local farming community.

“Rusty Glover has served in the Legislature before, so we know who and what he is – a true conservative who will represent the farmers and the people of this district with honesty and integrity,” said Art Sessions, Mobile County Farmers Federation president. “We are excited he is running again and are proud to support him in his efforts.”

Glover expressed gratitude for the organization’s endorsement.

“It is truly an honor to be endorsed by such a great group of hard-working men and women in Mobile County,” he said. “I look forward to working with them on the conservative values we both hold dear.”

Glover was also a teacher and coach for 25 years at Mary G. Montgomery High School in Semmes. He and his wife of 35 years, Connie, have two daughters and three grandchildren. They attend Wilmer Baptist Church.

Since leaving the legislature, Glover has entered other state races, including 2018’s Lt. Governor’s race and 2022’s State Auditor race. Both attempts came up short, with Glover missing the run-off in each one.
