Alabama’s Jeff Sessions is the Trump Administration’s MVP

This might come as a surprise, but it shouldn’t — one man has been consistent and steady in the seemingly never-ending stream of Trump-fed chaos, and that is Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

He has been attacked by liberals, the media (I repeat myself), Congressional Republicans, and by President Trump himself, but he just keeps on chugging along. Sessions is doing the business of the people, whether that means appointing an investigator to look into DOJ abuses or laying down the law on immigration:

“I have put in place a zero tolerance policy for illegal entry on our southwest border,” Sessions said at the border near San Diego. “If you cross the border unlawfully, then we will prosecute you. It’s that simple.”

Sessions took it further than most thought he would, telling potential illegals that he will separate them from their children.

“If you are smuggling a child, then we will prosecute you, that child may be separated from you, as required by law.”

Why this matters:
Despite being a target for conservatives and liberals alike, Sessions is keeping his head down and fulfilling the promise of the Trump campaign of 2016. He has avoided the spotlight and controversies that have ensnared most members of the Trump Administration. He has resisted the calls for him to step down, and stood strong when people thought he would be fired. Sessions may be the one person keeping America out of a full-blown Constitutional crisis (manufactured or not). When the history books are written, Attorney General Jeff Sessions will be seen as President Donald Trump’s best cabinet selection.

The details:

— Then Senator Sessions was the first senator to endorse candidate Trump. He did this because of his position on immigration.

— AG Sessions recused himself from the Trump-Russia matter because he was an integral part of the Trump campaign.

— The media reports that Trump is constantly ready to fire the Attorney General and/or Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein, but it has not happened yet.

— Sessions appointed Utah’s top federal prosecutor, John Huber, to investigate GOP concerns about DOJ misconduct.
