Next month, University of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young will have the opportunity to add to his list of highly coveted recognitions as a nominee for The 2022 ESPYS’s “Best College Athlete, Men’s Sports.”
The accolade, which is presented annually by ESPN, will be broadcast live by ABC on Wednesday, July 20 at 7:00 p.m. CST.
During his sophomore campaign, Young compiled 47 passing touchdowns with only seven interceptions, while racking up a staggering 4,872 yards through the air. He also held the second-highest quarterback efficiency rating in the nation at 87.6.
Due in no small part to Young’s stellar performance, the Crimson Tide achieved a 13-2 record and emerged victorious in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) championship game, as well as in the 2022 College Football Playoff semifinal’s Cotton Bowl.
Along with becoming the university’s first quarterback to have claimed the Heisman Trophy, Young was named The Associated Press College Football Player of the Year and the SEC Offensive Player of the Year.
Young also notched the Davey O’Brien Award, which recognizes the nation’s most outstanding quarterback. An additional piece of hardware Young nabbed last year was the Maxwell Award, an honor bestowed upon the best player in college football.
In his junior season at The Capstone, Young looks to lead the Tide to its 10th national championship appearance in 14 years.
