Alabama would have a shocking matchup if playoffs began today

The Alabama Crimson Tide earned a huge win over LSU over the weekend in dominating fashion in Baton Rouge, likely setting the team up with a chance to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff with three more wins.

On Tuesday night, the weekly set of current CFP rankings were released, and while they likely look significantly different now than they will in a few weeks, Alabama’s current opponent and location if the season were to end today will do more than raise a few eyebrows.

Only rising up just one spot from last week’s rankings — a surprise given the fashion Alabama won in what was one of the most difficult environments in the country — the Tide came in at No. 10 this week.

A ranking of No. 10 at the end of the season would see Alabama have to travel to the campus in the first of the No. 7 seed, which is the season ended today would mean a road trip to Bloomington, Indiana for a meeting with the surprise Hoosiers.

It would probably be the first time Tide fans have ever had a reason to drive to Bloomington, but best believe they would show up.

Such is the beauty of the new edition of the College Football Playoff. Things could look different a few weeks from now including the possibility of either a home game or first round bye for the Tide, but no matter what, it will be fascinating.
