Alabama student’s graduation prayer goes viral nationwide: ‘To God be the glory’

CLAY, Ala. — When Clay-Chalkville High School graduate Christian Crawford delivered a prayer for a woman who had suffered a seizure in the audience during his commencement ceremony he had no idea the attention it would bring him and his small town. Sunday Crawford appeared on Fox News to make sure everyone knew that God deserved glory for the lives who have been touched through his words.

“Graduation started off normal,” Crawford told Fox News on Sunday. After someone called for a medic in the stands to attend to the parents of another student who was suffering a medical emergency, Crawford said he was asked by the school’s librarian to pray for the situation.

“When I came back and sat down I thought I was finished,” said Crawford. “But as I was leaving graduation people were telling me it was a powerful prayer, people were telling me, ‘you blessed me, my faith has been restored.’ And people were telling me that there’s hope for our generation, and it’s just to God be the glory.”

The powerful video, which grew from having only 45 views when Yellowhammer picked it up Thursday evening to having nearly 400,000 by the time this article is published, has also been replayed on national news television networks, being seen by millions more people.
