It only felt like a matter of time before Alabama quarterback commit Keelon Russell received the bump to five-star status.
Russell, who was a four-star initially committed to SMU, flipped to Alabama, and only good things have happened for him since. He was named the MVP of the Elite 11 quarterback showcase among competition from the best players in the nation and won the Rivals QB challenge at their camp as well.
The moment it became officially official!

According to 247’s composite rankings, Russell is now the No. 4 quarterback in the country for the class of 2025 behind only Julian Lewis (committed to USC), Tavien St. Clair (committed to Ohio State), and Bryce Underwood (committed to LSU).
The Duncanville, TX native has led his powerhouse program to back-to-back Texas 6A D-1 state titles and has lost just once in the last two seasons combined since taking over as the starting quarterback.
He will have one more season in high school this fall before eventually heading off to Tuscaloosa.
While Russell still has a ton of work to do in order to eventually become the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback, he is off to a tremendous start as a recruit and seems to be doing all the right things.
