Alabama Farmers Federation rolls out 14th slate of legislative endorsements

Thursday, the Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA) announced its 14th round of endorsements for candidates seeking election to the state legislature.

ALFA utilizes FarmPAC, the federation’s political arm, in issuing endorsements for candidates seeking public office.

The following candidates now hold an official endorsement from FarmPAC:

  • State Rep. Matt Simpson (R-Daphne)
  • State Rep. Steve Hurst (R-Munford)
  • State Rep. Gil Isbell (R-Gadsden)

Hope Cassebaum, Baldwin County Farmers Federation president, hailed Simpson for his work in representing his district.

“Rep. Simpson is a fine person and a good leader for us in the House of Representatives and at home,” said Cassebaum. “We support him because we know of the outstanding job he has done and will continue to do for us in Baldwin County.”

Talladega County Farmers Federation president Justin Lackey spoke to Hurst’s years of public service in elected office.

“Rep. Hurst has served us on the county commission and in the House of Representatives, and we know he will continue his good work for us,” stated Lackey. “We support him and look forward to his service for another four years.”

Donald Sewell, Etowah Farmers Federation president, advised that Isbell had provided “a conservative voice” for his constituents.

“Rep. Gil Isbell has worked hard to represent the people of this district,” said Sewell. “In the Legislature, he is a conservative voice for Etowah County, and we appreciate his hard work and representation.”

In October, ALFA announced its first and second strings of legislative endorsements, followed by its thirdfourth and fifth rounds of endorsements in November. The federation in December released its sixthseventh and eighth rounds of endorsements. ALFA in January made public its ninth and 10th strings of legislative endorsements, followed by its 11th and 12th rounds in February, and its 13th earlier this month.

In September of last year, ALFA officially endorsed its preferred slate of candidates seeking election to federal and statewide offices.

The primary election will take place on May 24, 2022.
